How to Form a LLC in Louisiana

how to form a llc in louisiana

This article will talk about many different aspects about forming and setting up a Louisiana LLC. Let's get started.

Setting up a LLC in Louisiana is fairly simple. You'll need to select a company name that is not being used by somebody else. This requires checking the Louisiana Secretary of State's database.

The LLC name must have a corporate ending such as:  LLC, L.L.C., or Limited Liability Company.

If you're not ready to incorporate right away, names can be reserved for 120 days by filing an application for reservation and the required $25 filing fee with the Louisiana Secretary of State.

You do not need to list a company purpose on the certificate of formation or an ending date. Most people will make the duration of the LLC "perpetual".

Louisiana charges a one-time setup fee of $100 plus an annual recurring fee of $35.

It takes about 2-4 days for the Louisiana Secretary of State to form your LLC and send the required certificate back to you.
